Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MailSentry ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including visitors, registered users, and API consumers.

2. Description of Service

MailSentry provides an email validation API that performs syntax checking, MX record verification, disposable email detection, typo correction, role-based detection, free provider identification, and quality scoring. The Service is provided on a subscription basis with various plan tiers.

3. API Usage

You agree to use the API only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:

  • Use the API to send spam, phishing, or unsolicited communications
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent any security measures
  • Exceed the rate limits or usage quotas for your plan tier
  • Share API keys with unauthorized third parties
  • Use the Service to harvest, collect, or store personal data beyond validation purposes
  • Resell API access without prior written consent

4. Accounts and API Keys

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. API keys are hashed before storage — we cannot recover lost keys, but you can generate new ones from your dashboard.

5. Billing and Payments

Paid plans are billed monthly through our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy. Prices are as listed at the time of subscription. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

No overage charges: When you exceed your monthly usage limit, API requests will return a 402 status code. We will never automatically charge overage fees or upgrade your plan without your explicit action.

Purchased credits never expire: Additional credit packs purchased through the dashboard carry no expiration date. They remain in your account until used, regardless of plan changes or billing cycles. Monthly plan allowances reset each billing cycle and do not roll over.

Refund Policy: Refunds are available within 14 days of payment if fewer than 10% of your plan's monthly checks have been used. To request a refund, contact support@mailsentry.dev with your account email and reason for the request. Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days. After 14 days or once usage exceeds 10% of your plan's quota, the payment is considered final.

6. Data Handling

For single API validation requests, the email is recorded as a SHA-256 hash in our internal validation log; a separate short-lived score cache retains the plaintext email and result for up to 30 days from the most recent lookup, so that repeat lookups return consistent scoring. For bulk validation, email finder, and third-party integrations, submitted or discovered email addresses and their results are stored in plaintext in your account so you can access them. This data is deleted when you remove the job or delete your account. Aggregate usage counts (validations per day) are stored for billing and analytics. 7. Service Availability

We aim for 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance with or without prior notice. We are not liable for any damages resulting from service downtime or interruptions.

8. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. MailSentry shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Subscription Cancellation and Account Termination

Subscription cancellation: You may cancel a paid subscription at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation stops the recurring charge — your subscription remains active and you keep full access at your paid plan tier through the end of the period you've already paid for. When that period ends, your account converts to the Free plan (1,000 checks per month).

We don't issue refunds for unused time on cancelled subscriptions outside the refund window described in Section 5 (Billing and Payments). The refund window remains available: within 14 days of payment, if you've used less than 10% of your plan's monthly quota, contact support@mailsentry.dev for a refund.

Account deletion: Account deletion is a separate action from subscription cancellation. You may delete your account from your dashboard. If you have an active paid subscription, you must cancel the subscription first (see above); we do not auto-cancel subscriptions as a side effect of account deletion, so you remain in control of the timing and aware of both actions.

Upon account deletion, your API keys are revoked immediately and your data is deleted within 45 days, consistent with the retention policy described in our Privacy Policy Section 7.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or use the Service for illegal activities.

10. DMCA and Intellectual Property

If you believe any content on our platform infringes your intellectual property rights, contact us at support@mailsentry.dev. We will respond to valid DMCA notices in accordance with applicable law.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
